London. Lost City. 35mm Long Exposure Photographs September 2010 ongoing

From a series of 35mm long exposure night photographs.
I am fascinated by the way the artificial light appears to be almost burnt into the print.
In this series of photographs I have looked at the work of Rut Blees Luxemburg, Brassai and Peter Bialobrzeski.

London. Lost City Black and White 35mm Photographs September 2010 ongoing

Photographs of Brick Lane and Deptford featuring the recurring theme of the ‘lost city’ and the unsettling beauty of urban decay.
I am interested in artists who travel and document the city such as Bruce Davidson.
Reading Ian Sinclair has helped me think about the importance of looking at the background elements of the city

The March December 2010

35mm photographs taken at the recent demonstrations in London. These photographs focus on individuals in the midst of the march.

Superimpositions November 2010

35mm hanprinted and superimposed photographs. Inspired by work by Harry Callahan.

Slide Projection Overlays January 2011-ongoing

'Slide projection Overlays’ uses a 'found’ set of 35mm slides accompanied with captions from ‘The Associated Press’ archive (dated 1975).
Projecting 2 slides simultaneously, I then re-photographed the layered images while playing with the focus on the projector.
I am interested in the quality of the collaged image and the experience of 'seeing' produced by merging and superimposing.

'Beautiful London' October 2010

I found a book, ‘Beautiful London’. I cut into the pages, creating collages that were purposeful, but also subject to chance.
It was important that the book remained intact and that the collages resulted from cutting into the sequence of images.
